Being the captain of the Coyotes has its perks.

Shane Doan and his son Josh, 6, recently watched the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Atlanta Braves at Chase Field and received V.I.P access with the team, including the opportunity to take batting practice and shag fly balls in the outfield.

“It was such a unique experience and it is obviously one of the benefits of being able to play sports,” Doan said. “As a fan I was just enthralled by it. The guys in their clubhouse were unreal to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The Doan family have been big fans of the Diamondbacks ever since the team was founded and regularly attend games when living in the Valley.

“It’s one of those things as a dad where you see him (Josh) and you are so excited,” Doan said. “You see his reactions and him talking about meeting all the guys. Hearing him talk was so neat and it is something we will never forget.”
