GLENDALE -- The Phoenix chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association announced this week that it has nominated Coyotes captain Shane Doan for this season’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
The annual award recognizes the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
Doan, 36, re-signed with the Coyotes last summer just before the NHL lockout and then served as one of the key player negotiators. One the ice, Doan has scored a team-high 13 goals while playing in all 45 games.
