GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The National Hockey League has announced that the Phoenix Coyotes are the winners of the League’s 2008 All-Star Fan Balloting marketing contest. A panel of judges from the NHL reviewed summaries from each club to determine which organization prepared and executed the best overall marketing plan to promote the League’s All-Star Fan Balloting campaign.
The Coyotes implemented their “Vote For Doan, Vote For Jovo” campaign to help garner fan votes for Shane Doan
and Ed Jovanovski, the two Phoenix players who were named to the ballot.
“The Coyotes’ All-Star Fan Balloting marketing campaign was truly a team effort,” said Coyotes Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Michael Bucek. “The award reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire front office staff. We were able to effectively utilize a variety of methods to promote the fan balloting campaign, and everyone who played a part in the process should be proud.”
The “Vote For Doan, Vote For Jovo” campaign included ads, feature stories on PhoenixCoyotes.com, a banner on the Coyotes’ official MySpace page, special Jumbotron videos, temporary tattoos, text messages sent straight to fans encouraging them to vote and voting stations located in the concourse of Jobing.com Arena during Coyotes home games. The Coyotes were awarded a trip for two to this year’s All-Star Game in Atlanta for coming in first place.
