GLENDALE -The Coyotes will begin a grueling month of December tonight when they host the Los Angeles Kings at Gila River Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Arizona time.
Arizona (8-10-3) will play 16 games over 31 days this month, and that includes a three-day break for Christmas.

Mike Smith will start in goal vs. LA. Smith has stopped 191 of 204 shots, a .936 save percentage, since returning from injury on Oct. 16.
"He's healthy, he's in a good frame of mind and I think he's making the adjustments from game to game that he needs to make," General Manager John Chayka told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. "Overall he's in a really good place and that gives us a chance to win every night."
Backup goalie Louis Domingue was removed from the injured-reserve list after missing three games because of a lower-body injury. Domingue will dress for the game vs. LA, and goalie Justin Peters was assigned back to the American Hockey League.
The Coyotes will have Oliver Ekman-Larsson in the lineup. The key defenseman missed the third period of Tuesday's game at San Jose because of an upper-body injury, but the injury is not considered serious.
"I'm feeling good," Ekman-Larsson said. "… It's not a big thing. At the same time, you want to make sure it's nothing too serious. I'm feeling good."
Max Domi will enter the game on a hot streak having scored three goals in the past five games. He and Radim Vrbata co-lead the team with 15 points.
Rookie defenseman Jakob Chychrun will return to the lineup after missing the past four games as a healthy scratch. Head Coach Dave Tippett hinted before Tuesday's game that Chychrun would play again soon after needing a break to reboot.
Captain Shane Doan is expected to pass Wayne Gretzky and gain sole possession of 19th place on the NHL's all-time games played list by skating in his 1,488th career game.

Los Angeles (12-10-1) lost to San Jose, 4-1, on Wednesday night to snap a five-game winning streak.
The Kings have won just three of 11 road games this season (3-7-1) and have scored just eight goals in their past five games played away from Staples Center.
Forward Jeff Carter leads or co-leads the team in many offensive categories, including goals (10), assists (nine), points (19) and shots (76).
Forward Marian Gaborik is back in the lineup after missing the first 21 games because of a broken foot. He notched an assist vs. San Jose on Wednesday for his first point of the season.
The Kings are playing minus goalie Jonathan Quick, who suffered a groin injury in the season opener and hasn't played since. Peter Budaj has been filling in for Quick and played Wednesday. Backup Jeff Zatkoff, who is 0-3-0 this season, could get the start vs. Arizona.
