COYOTES TO SELECT 8th OVERALL AT FRIDAY'S ENTRY DRAFT

GLENDALE, ARIZ. --- The Phoenix Coyotes will have the eighth overall drafting position for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, which will be held Friday at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa and will be televised on Versus at 4 p.m. Arizona time.  

The Coyotes finished the 2007-08 regular season with their first round pick in each of the last three Entry Drafts on their roster:  Kyle Turris (3rd overall, 2007), Peter Mueller (8th overall, 2006) and Martin Hanzal (17th overall, 2005).

** Please note pick 35 (2nd round) was assigned to Phoenix for club not signing 2004 first-round pick Blake Wheeler.

** Please note pick 38 (2nd round) was acquired through a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto traded Brendan Bell and its 2nd round pick in 2008 Entry Draft to Phoenix in exchange for Yanic Perreault and its 5th round pick in 2008 Entry Draft (2/27/07).

** Please note pick 49 (2nd round) was acquired through a trade with the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa traded its 2nd round pick in 2008 Entry Draft to Phoenix in exchange for Oleg Saprykin and its 7th round pick in 2007 Entry Draft (2/27/07).

** Please note Pick 90 (3rd round) was acquired through a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh traded Daniel Carcillo and its 3rd round pick in 2008 Entry Draft to Phoenix in exchange for Georges Laraque (2/27/07).

The first round of the draft will begin on Friday and rounds 2-7 will start on Saturday.  
The Web site will have live updates of the Coyotes' picks and will also feature video interviews with Coyotes draft selections and team management.

The Coyotes will also host a free NHL Draft Viewing Party on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Upper Deck Sports Grill in Scottsdale. Coyotes players Derek Morris and Peter Mueller, along with Coyotes mascot Howler, are scheduled to appear from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for autographs and pictures. XTRA Sports 910’s Jeff Dean and Luke Lapinski will be broadcasting live.
