Coyotes to Recognize Paul Goldschmidt with Pre-Game Puck Drop Dec. 14

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes announced today that the organization will recognize Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt for his outstanding 2013 MLB season by having him take part in the ceremonial pre-game puck drop on Saturday, December 14 when the Coyotes host the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time is 6:00 p.m.

Goldschmidt had an incredible season with the D-backs, winning three major awards and finishing second in the balloting for Major League Baseball’s National League Most Valuable Player Award behind Andrew McCutchen (Pittsburgh). Goldschmidt led the National League in RBI (125) and tied for the NL-lead in home runs (36).

Goldschmidt won the Hank Aaron Award, which recognizes the most outstanding offensive performer in each League (Goldschmidt won the National League). He also won the Silver Slugger Award which recognizes the players who were the best offensive producers at each position in both leagues, and received the Rawlings Gold Glove Award which recognizes the best defensive players at their respective positions.
