GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes announced today that the team will honor Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on Saturday, Feb. 11 when the Coyotes take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Fitzgerald wears No. 11 for the Cardinals and attended the University of Pittsburgh prior to being drafted by Arizona. As part of the evening, the first 10,000 fans entering Gila River Arena that night will receive a Larry Fitzgerald Bobble Head courtesy of Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers. The Bobble Head Hall of Fame in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has confirmed that they will display the Larry Fitzgerald/Coyotes Bobble Head for fans around the world to view.
"During my 13 years in the Valley, I've developed a great friendship with Shane Doan and have the utmost respect for him and the Coyotes organization," said Fitzgerald. "I'm thrilled to be honored by the Coyotes on Feb. 11 and look forward to a great night at Gila River Arena."
On Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, Fitzgerald received the Cardinals' Walter Payton Man of the Year award. It marks the second time (2012) that Fitzgerald has been awarded this prestigious honor for community involvement. Fitzgerald has been named as one of three finalists for the national award which will be chosen the night before Super Bowl LI in February.
Fitzgerald has been a prominent advocate of breast cancer research in honor of his late mother, Carol, who succumbed to the disease. His First Down Fund has benefited thousands of kids across the country, and he's been active in support of the military and other philanthropic causes. Fitzgerald has established himself as one of the NFL's greatest receivers on the field but has also been recognized as one of the Valley's most active athletes in the community.
Fitzgerald will take part in the pre-game ceremonial puck drop with Coyotes Captain Shane Doan and Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby. His son Devin, will serve as the Coyotes Bar-S Top Dog for the night.
