Coyotes to Play Home Opener Saturday vs. Sidney Crosby & Penguins

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes will play their season home opener against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins this Saturday, Oct. 10 at Gila River Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The Coyotes will open the 2015-16 NHL regular season on Oct. 9 at the Los Angeles Kings.

All fans attending the Coyotes home opener will receive a 2015-16 Coyotes magnetic schedule and a “mini locker series giveaway” poster, courtesy of Gila River Casinos. The poster features the dressing room stalls of Coyotes Captain Shane Doan, All-Star defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, centers Antoine Vermette and Martin Hanzal and goaltender Mike Smith. Fans will have an opportunity to collect all five mini player lockers during the season at select games.

The Coyotes will be introducing a new in-game promotion this season called the Bar-S Top Dog of the Game. Each home game, a celebrity or local community hero will lead Coyotes fans in a pre-game howl to help get Coyotes players and fans fired up for the action. This special ceremony will take place in the thirty seconds leading up to the puck drop at the start of each game.

Fans attending Opening Night are encouraged to participate in the Coyotes new pre-game ceremony by downloading official “Coyote eyes” to create an intimidating atmosphere when the Penguins take the ice. Following the game Saturday night, kids can participate in the post-Game Slapshot. Children 12-years of age and under will have a chance to shoot on an NHL goal and receive an authentic Coyotes puck. For more information, visit

The Coyotes are proud to introduce Smoke's Poutinerie to Gila River Arena this season. Smoke’s Poutinerie, located near section 119, will offer a broad menu exclusive to poutine and bring the authentic Quebec classic to the Valley of the Sun. Fans are sure to love the traditional poutine of French fries, curd and gravy combined with fresh toppings to make unique, custom poutine meals.

In addition, the Coyotes have added a new Tim Hortons coffee location near section 119 and a new wine bar called “Turn 4” which is located near section 116 at the Northwest corner of the arena. The wine bar will serve two different kinds of Turn 4 wines each Coyotes game.

The Coyotes and Levy Restaurants are introducing several new food items at Gila River Arena this season. Fans can enjoy pork carnitas nachos, chilaquitos verde, chicken and waffle fries, buffalo chicken sandwiches, fried cookie dough pucks, all American cheeseburgers, pecan sticky burgers, fried buttermilk chicken sandwiches, smokehouse barbeque nachos, loaded Bar-S corn dogs, meatball hoagies, Italian piadina, and Bars-S jalapeno cheddar sausages.

Also new to Gila River Arena this season is Rita’s Ice which will be located at sections 112, 211 and 220. Rita’s Ice offers “cool treats” including various gelati flavors (Italian ice and custard), waffle cones and cookie sandwiches.
