GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes announced today that the majority of the players on the team will grow moustaches in honor of Movember, an annual charity event held during the month of November that encourages men to grow Mo’s (slang for moustache) to raise awareness and funds for cancers affecting men.
Coyotes’ defenseman Derek Morris, who is affectionately known as “Mo”, will lead the charge during the 30-day moustache-growing movement and will be joined by Coyotes captain Shane Doan, Paul Bissonnette, Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Chipchura, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Thomas Greiss, Jeff Halpern, Rob Klinkhammer, Andy Miele, David Moss, David Rundblad, David Schlemko, Michael Stone, Mike Smith, Antoine Vermette and Keith Yandle.
“My teammates and I are excited to join this great cause,” said Morris. “It’s a fun way to raise awareness about cancers affecting men. I look forward to seeing what kind of ‘staches our team can grow.”
PhoenixCoyotes.com will post a weekly photo gallery featuring Coyotes players and their moustaches. The Coyotes are also encouraging fans to tweet @phoenixcoyotes and share their Movember moustache photos for a chance to win tickets to upcoming Coyotes games. Fans should use the hashtag #YotesMosBros. Throughout the month, fans that join the Coyotes Mo’s Bros team will have an opportunity to win a suite to a Coyotes game in December. Women are also encouraged to join the Movember movement by raising money to support the men in their life, acting as men’s health advocates.
Fans can support the Coyotes Movember campaign by donating at the Coyotes Community Corner at Jobing.com Arena beginning Nov. 5 when the Coyotes take on the Vancouver Canucks. Fans can contribute to the cause by visiting the Coyotes Movember page at PhoenixCoyotes.com/Movember that will launch Nov. 1.
Movember is an annual charity event during the month of November where men grow a moustache while raising funds and awareness for men’s health issues. The moustache is our ribbon, it’s the vehicle by which we raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, our commitment is to grow a moustache and change the face of men’s health. Men are encouraged to register at www.movember.com and start with a clean-shaven face.
