GLENDALE, Ariz. --- The Phoenix Coyotes have launched a new program to recognize Valley youth hockey players and coaches throughout the 2008-09 season.

The team will select one lucky player and coach who will be named the Phoenix Coyotes Youth Hockey Player and Coach of the Month. Each month’s player and coach will be recognized during a Coyotes home game at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale and featured on the Coyotes’ official Web site, www.phoenixcoyotes.com.

“Youth hockey has grown significantly here in Phoenix and we thought it was important to recognize those who are excelling in the sport,” said Scott Storkan, manager of hockey development for the Coyotes. “We’re not only looking for stars on the ice, but we’re looking to honor those athletes that also shine in the classroom as well as in the community.”

To nominate a youth hockey player or coach, complete the online nomination form at www.phoenixcoyotes.com/youthhockeyawards.
