Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Radim Vrbata
to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“We are very pleased to sign Radim to a one-year contract,” said Chayka. “He’s a proven goal scorer who will add skill and smarts to our lineup. We look forward to having him back in a Coyotes uniform this season.”
The 35-year-old Vrbata recorded 13-14-27 and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 63 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season. In 2014-15 with Vancouver, Vrbata scored the second highest goal total of his career (31).
"I'm very excited to rejoin the Coyotes," said Vrbata. "My family and I love living in Arizona and I'm really looking forward to helping this team win."
The 6-foot-1, 194-pound Vrbata has totaled 137-151-288, a plus-41 rating and 118 PIM in 428 career games with the Coyotes. In six seasons with Arizona, Vrbata scored 20 or more goals four times including 35 goals in 2011-12 and 27 goals in 2007-08. He ranks 11th in franchise history in goals scored.
The Mlada Boleslav, CZ native has registered 259-295-554 and 262 PIM in 934 career games with the Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning and Canucks.
Vrbata was originally drafted by the Avalanche in the seventh round (212th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
