GLENDALE, ARIZONA -Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Karel Vejmelka to a three-year contract extension. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to sign Karel to a contract extension," said Armstrong. "He is a big, talented goaltender who has a great work ethic and has established himself as a very good NHL goalie. We look forward to having him on our roster next season.
The 25-year-old Vejmelka has registered a 3.35 goals against average (GAA), a .905 save percentage (SV%) and a 10-23-1 record in 36 games with Arizona in 2021-22.
The 6-foot-4, 224-pound netminder currently ranks second among NHL rookie goalies in games and saves (1,058) and fifth in SV%.
The Trebic, CZE native registered 46 saves for his first career shutout on Nov. 29 at Winnipeg. It marked the second most saves in a shutout by a goaltender in franchise history and tied the NHL record for most saves in a first career shutout.
Vejmelka signed a one-year contract with Arizona on May 5, 2021. He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round (145th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
