GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Lucas Lessio to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Lessio recorded 34-25-59 and 71 penalty minutes in 66 games with the Oshawa Generals (OHL) in 2011-12. He tied for the team lead in goals and was second on the team in points. Lessio added 3-2-5 in six playoff games with the Generals.
The 19-year old native of Maple, Ontario also took part in the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge, a four-game international tournament between the Canadian and Russian junior teams held August 9-14. Lessio scored a goal in Game 4 of the tournament to help Canada win the four-game challenge.
Lessio was selected by the Coyotes in the second round (56th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
