GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Derick Brassard to a one-year contract. As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to welcome Derick to our Pack," said Armstrong. "Derick is an experienced, skilled forward who can play center or wing and contribute offensively. He is also very effective in the face-off circle. We look forward to having him in our lineup this season."
The 33-year-old Brassard registered 10-22-32 and 16 penalty minutes (PIM) in 66 games with the New York Islanders in 2019-20.
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Brassard scored a career-high 27 goals with the New York Rangers in 2015-16 and recorded a career-best 60 points with NYR in 2014-15. The Hull, QC native has collected six seasons of 40-plus points in the NHL.
Brassard has totaled 186-297-483 and 407 PIM in 852 career NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and Islanders.
He also brings plenty of postseason experience to the Coyotes as the veteran forward has produced 25-43-68 in 117 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. He helped the Senators reach the Eastern Conference Final in 2017 before losing in Game 7 to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Penguins and competed in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final and the 2015 Eastern Conference Final with the Rangers. Brassard played in 18 postseason games with the Islanders in 2019-20, posting 2-6-8 as NYI advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.
He was originally drafted by the Blue Jackets in the first round (6th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
