COYOTES SET FRANCHISE RECORD FOR MOST POINTS IN A SEASON

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Dallas Stars 3-2 in a shootout tonight to improve their season record to 46-22-5 for 97 points, marking the highest single-season point total in Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets franchise history.
The previous franchise record for points in a season was 96, set by the Winnipeg Jets in 1984-85 (43-27-10). On Thursday, the Coyotes broke the 1984-85 Jets’ franchise record for wins in a single season when they defeated the Florida Panthers to record their 44th win of the season.
Tonight’s victory was also the Coyotes’ ninth consecutive win, tying the franchise record for longest winning streak, which was also set by the 1984-85 Jets when they won nine straight games from Mar. 8-27, 1985.
The Coyotes continue their three-game road trip Tuesday, Mar. 23 at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks and will play at the Nashville Predators on Thursday, Mar. 25 at 5 p.m. The Coyotes’ next home game is Saturday, Mar. 27 at 6 p.m. when they host the Colorado Avalanche at Jobing.com Arena.
