GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Vancouver Canucks at Arena tonight 3-2 in a shootout to win their 10th consecutive home game. With 10 straight home wins, the Coyotes have set a new franchise record for longest home winning streak.

The previous record for longest home winning streak in Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets franchise history was nine games, accomplished during the 1992-93 season by the Winnipeg Jets (the franchise relocated to Phoenix prior to the 1996-97 season.). The Jets won nine consecutive home games from Dec. 27, 1992 to Jan. 23, 1993.

The current 10-game home winning streak began with a 3-1 home victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 21. With tonight’s win, the Coyotes moved to 16-5-0 through 21 home games this season at Arena.

Coyotes’ players will not skate but will be available to the media at Arena tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:30 a.m. On Thursday, they will host the San Jose Sharks at 5 p.m. at Arena for a special New Year’s Eve matchup with their Pacific Division rival.

Westgate City Center will be holding its 4th Annual Westgate Rocks New Year’s Eve celebration that night from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fans can enjoy the Coyotes-Sharks game before heading outside to attend the Westgate Rocks New Year’s Eve celebration presented by Miller Lite, which features live musical performances from Rock Lobster and Valley-favorite Metalhead. A New Year’s Eve ticket package, which includes an upper-level game ticket and admission to the Westgate event, is available for just $30.
