Coyotes Select Eight Players On Second Day Of The 2019 NHL Entry Draft

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - The Arizona Coyotes selected eight players on the second day of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on Saturday.

The Coyotes acquired a fourth-round draft choice (98th overall), a fifth-round draft choice (151st overall) and a seventh-round draft choice (207th overall) from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for the Coyotes' 74th overall selection in the third round.

With the 76th overall selection in the third round, the Coyotes selected center John Farinacci from Harvard (NCAA). The 6-foot, 185-pound center registered 12-21-33 in 16 games last season with Dexter School (USHS-Prep). The 18-year-old native of Red Bank, NJ also skated in two games with Muskegon (USHL), scoring two goals and tallying an assist. Additionally, Farinacci played in two games with both the U.S. National U18 Team and USNTDP Juniors.

The Coyotes selected forward Matias Maccelli with the 98th overall pick in the fourth round. The 5-foot-11, 172-pound forward collected 31-41-72 and 42 penalty minutes (PIM) in 62 games with Dubuque (USHL) last season. He was also named to the USHL Second All-Star Team. The 18-year-old native of Turku, FI has registered 39-54-93 and 56 PIM in 98 games over two seasons with Dubuque.

Arizona drafted forward Alexandr Darin from Loko Yaroslavl with the 107th overall draft choice in the fourth round. The 5-foot-10, 159-pound forward recorded 20-15-35 with 24 PIM in 47 games with Loko Yaroslavl (MHL) in 2018-19. He tallied 1-3-4 in 11 playoff games, helping Loko Yaroslavl win the MHL championship. The 18-year-old native of Yaroslavl, RU also totaled 10-12-22 and 22 PIM in 18 games with Loko-Yunior Yaroslavl (NMHL).

With the 151st overall selection in the fifth round, the Coyotes selected forward Aku Raty from Karpat U20 (Jr. A SM-liiga). The 6-foot, 170-pound winger registered 19-26-45 and 28 PIM in 52 games last season. The 17-year-old native of Oulu, FI picked up 3-6-9 and four PIM in 11 playoff games, helping guide Karpat U20 to the Kr. A SM-liiga championship.

Forward Danil Savunov was selected in the sixth round (174th overall) by the Coyotes. The 5-foot-10, 148-pound blueliner registered 6-9-15 and 10 PIM in 45 games with Dizel Penza (VHL) last season. The 18-year-old native of Sarov RU also recorded 12-8-20 and 14 PIM in 10 games with Dizelist Penza (NMHL) in 2018-19.

The Coyotes selected forward Anthony Romano with the 176th selection in the sixth round. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound winger played in 60 games with Sioux Falls (USHL), registering 26-21-47 and 34 PIM. The 18-year-old native of Richmond Hill, ON helped Sioux Falls win the USHL Clark Cup by recording 1-2-3 in 10 playoff games.

With the 200th selection in the seventh round, the Coyotes drafted defenseman Axel Bergkvist from Leksands IF J20 (SuperElit). The 5-foot-9, 200-pound blueliner registered 12-9-21 and 16 PIM in 23 games with Leksands IF J20. The 19-year-old native of Insjon, SE also collected 3-7-10 in 36 games with Leksands IF (Allsvenskan) last season.

The Coyotes final selection in the seventh round (207th overall) was 18-year-old forward Valentin Nussbaumer from Shawinigan (QMJHL). The 6-foot, 168-pound Nussbaumer registered 17-21-38 and 16 PIM in 58 games last season. 

The Coyotes will hold their prospect development camp from June 24-28 at Gila River Arena. On-ice sessions are scheduled from 1:30 to 5:15 p.m. on June 24, 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on June 25 and 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on June 27. The players will participate in an intra-squad game on Friday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. The practices and game are free and open to the public.
