On Saturday morning, the Phoenix Coyotes began their second day of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by selecting Left Wing Brett MacLean
with the 32nd overall pick.
Last season, MacLean recorded 100 points (47 goals, 53 assists) in 68 games with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
A native of London, Ontario, MacLean participated in both the 2007 CHL Top Prospects Game as well as being named to the 2007 OHL Eastern Conference All-Star Team.
After being ranked 40th overall among North American Skaters by Central Scouting Service in the mid-season rankings, MacLean finished the season ranked 14th overall. CSS describes MacLean as a power forward that uses his size well to protect the puck and create scoring chances…has great scoring drive and is willing to battle in traffic…plays an aggressive, high-energy game.
