COYOTES RECALL SPILLER FROM SAN ANTONIO
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Matthew Spiller from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Spiller has had two stints with the Coyotes this season, playing in 6 games and collecting 9 penalty minutes (PIM) during that span. The 23-year-old blueliner has registered 2-7-9 and 143 PIM in 62 games with San Antonio this season. Spiller ranks 2nd on the Rampage in penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-5, 233-pound Spiller played in 51 games with the Coyotes during his first professional season in 2003-04. The Coyotes selected Spiller with their 2nd choice (2nd round, 31st overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
