Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Matt Jones from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Jones, 23, has registered a goal and 2 assists with 4 penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman scored his first career NHL goal versus the New York Rangers on Oct. 28. Jones has also collected 1 assist and 21 PIM in 16 games with San Antonio.

As a first-year professional last season, the native of Downers Grove, Illinois recorded 2 assists and 14 PIM in 16 games with the Coyotes.

The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
