Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Matt Jones from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

Jones has registered 1-2-3 and 31 penalty minutes (PIM) in 23 games with the Coyotes this season - his 2nd as a professional. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman scored his first career NHL goal versus the New York Rangers on Oct. 28. Jones, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois, has also collected 2 assists and 23 PIM in 24 games with San Antonio this season.

The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played 4 seasons at the University of North Dakota and helped lead his team to the 2005 NCAA Frozen Four championship game as an assistant captain.
