Coyotes Recall Kennedy and Yip From AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forwards Tim Kennedy and Brandon Yip and assigned forwards Chris Brown and Lucas Lessio to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).


The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Kennedy played in 13 games with San Jose last season, recording 2-0-2 and two penalty minutes (PIM). He added 13-24-37 and 14 PIM in 37 games with Worcester (AHL). The 27-year-old native of Buffalo, N.Y. has totaled 13-18-31 with 56 PIM in 125 career NHL games. Kennedy was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round (181st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.


The 6-foot-1, 198-pound Yip recorded 3-5-8 in 34 games with Nashville last season. The 28-year-old native of Vancouver, B.C. has totaled 29-27-56 with 130 PIM in 172 career NHL games. Yip was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the eighth round (239th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Brown has appeared in three games with the Coyotes this season, recording 17 PIM. The 22-year-old native of Flower Mound, Texas has totaled 19 PIM in eight career NHL games with Phoenix. He posted 29-18-47 and 98 PIM in 68 games with Portland in 2012-13. Brown was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (36th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Lessio made his NHL debut with the Coyotes on Oct. 3 against the New York Rangers and has appeared in three games with Phoenix this season. The 20-year-old native of Maple, Ont. made his professional debut with Portland in 2012-13, registering 1-1-2 and four PIM in five games. He added 19-15-34 in 35 games with Oshawa (OHL).
