Coyotes Recall Gormley & Martinook, Assign Summers to AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Brandon Gormley and forward Jordan Martinook and assigned defenseman Chris Summers to the Portland Pirates, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 22-year-old Gormley has recorded 2-1-3 and four penalty minutes (PIM) in 15 games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound native of Murray River, Prince Edward Island has also totaled 3-4-7 with 14 PIM in 16 games with Portland. Gormley was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (13th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft.

The 22-year-old Martinook has appeared in two games with Arizona in 2014-15. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 6 vs. Boston. The 6-foot, 202-pound native of Brandon, Manitoba has collected 11-17-28 and 20 PIM in 44 games with the Pirates. He ranked second on the team in goals and points at the time of his recall. Martinook was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (58th overall) in 2012 Entry Draft.

The 27-year-old Summers has registered 0-3-3 and eight PIM in 17 games with Arizona in 2014-15. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound native of Ann Arbor, Michigan was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
