SAN ANTONIO (Mar. 5, 2006) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that the Phoenix Coyotes, the Rampage's parent club, have reassigned left wing Steve Gainey to the American Hockey League team.

Gainey, 27, joins the Rampage since being recalled on Feb. 27. Completing his fourth call-up with the Coyotes, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound forward has registered one point (assist) in 20 games with Phoenix this season. The Dallas Stars' third-round choice (77th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Gainey signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Nov. 4, 2005 and has played in 33 NHL games (0-2=2 and 34 PIM) split between Phoenix and Dallas over parts of four seasons.

The Montreal, Quebec native has registered 23 points (8 goals, 15 assists) and 59 penalty minutes (PIM) in 35 games with the Rampage this season.
