COYOTES RATINGS UP 50 PERCENT OVER LAST YEAR'S AVERAGE

PHOENIX -- With the red hot Phoenix Coyotes riding a five-game winning streak and making a move towards the top of the NHL’s Western Conference playoff race, the team is the talk of the league and interest among Valley sports fans is growing rapidly. Nowhere is the attention reflected more than with their increased television ratings on FOX Sports Arizona.

According to Nielsen Media Research, ratings for Phoenix Coyotes telecasts on FOX Sports Arizona are up 50% over their ratings for last season. Additionally, ratings for the network’s “Qwest Coyotes Live” pre-game show are up 90% over last year’s average, while ratings for the “Qwest Coyotes Live” post-game show are enjoying a 60% increase this season.

The Coyotes (34-18-5/73 pts) will go for their sixth win in a row this Friday on FOX Sports Arizona when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks (37-14-4/78 pts) in a battle between two teams vying for the top spot in the NHL’s Western Conference. The network’s coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. from Chicago. Dave Strader and Tyson Nash have the call of the game and Todd Walsh handles the in-game interviews and intermission reports.

The Blackhawks and Coyotes trail only the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference playoff standings. San Jose has 81 points, Chicago has 78 and Phoenix has 73. The Coyotes have the fourth most points in the entire NHL as of today.
