GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- USA Hockey has announced that Phoenix Coyotes prospect Chris Summers is among the 22 players who have been named to the 2008 U.S. National Junior Team.  The team will compete at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic from Dec. 26, 2007 to Jan. 5, 2008.

Summers, 19, was selected by Phoenix in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.  He is currently in his sophomore season at the University of Michigan, where he has four assists and 16 penalty minutes (PIM) through his first 16 games.  Last season, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound defenseman finished with 6-8-14 and 58 PIM in 41 games.

Prior to attending Michigan, Summers spent two seasons as a member of the U.S. National Team Development Program, helping the American squad win the gold medal at the 2006 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.  A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Summers will be appearing in his first World Junior Championship for Team USA.
