GLENDALE, Ariz. --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that team orthopedic surgeon Gary L. Waslewski, M.D. was named to PHOENIX Magazine’s 2008 Top Doctors list.
“Dr. Waslewski is a valuable part of our Coyotes family,” said Maloney. “We’ve got some of the best-performing players in the league and need the best doctors to help keep them in optimal health.”
Waslewski, certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, was appointed orthopedic surgeon to the Phoenix Coyotes in the summer of 2004 and served as orthopedic surgeon to the U.S. Men’s Select Team at the 2007 Deutschland Cup in Germany. Waslewski also serves as the team physician for the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants.
According to the April 2008 article in PHOENIX Magazine, doctors are selected through a peer-review survey following the idea that medical professionals are the best qualified to judge medical professionals. For its 14th consecutive year, PHOENIX Magazine randomly surveyed 5,000 Valley physicians, recognizing 460 Valley physicians in 38 specialties for their efforts in the medical community.
Waslewski is one of 20 Valley orthopedic surgeons to be named to the list.
Waslewski completed his undergraduate degree at Princeton University, after which he attended the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Va. where he received his M.D. Waslewski completed both his internship and residency at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, followed by a fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
