COYOTES HELP FIGHT LEUKEMIA

by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes

PHOENIX COYOTES TEAM WITH SLEEP AMERICA AND
CLUB 95 LATINO VIBE TO RAISE MONEY AND SUPPLIES FOR
9-YEAR-OLD LEUKEMIA VICTIM

Love and support aren't enough to cure 9-year-old Leukemia victim Bridgette Contreras. But, what that love and support are doing is raising money and collecting supplies to help her fight her battle.

The Phoenix Coyotes teamed up with Sleep America and Club 95 Latino Vibe and held a donation drive Friday, May 19, where listeners were asked to donate grocery store gift cards and school supplies.

Conteras received a bone marrow transplant in 2005 and she is still fighting. Due to her fragile immune system, she cannot attend public school. With the help of supplies, her family is hoping she can be home-schooled.

Since Conteras is a Coyotes hockey fan, the team wanted to do all it could to try and gain more support, and in turn, increase the donations. Howler, the Coyotes mascot, was on hand to greet people and show support for her recovery. The Coyotes also donated a Wal Mart gift card and a gift basket filled with school supplies.

The one-day drive raised over three thousand dollars.

Those wishing to donate can contact Susan O'Donnell with the Phoenix Coyotes at 623-463-8849.
