SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have claimed defenseman Juuso Valimaki off waivers from the Calgary Flames.

The 24-year-old Valimaki appeared in nine games for the Flames in 2021-22 and registered 0-2-2 with 10 penalty minutes (PIM). He also played in 35 games for Stockton (AHL) last season where he posted 2-16-18 and 26 PIM.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound blueliner has played in 82 career NHL games, all with Calgary, and has recorded 3-13-16 and 48 PIM, including a career-best 2-9-11 and 26 PIM season in 49 games in 2020-21.
A native of Tampere, Finland, Valimaki has also posted 6-26-32 and 44 PIM in 55 AHL games.
Valimaki was originally drafted by the Flames in the first round (16th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
