GLENDALE, Ariz. --- The Phoenix Coyotes are getting ready to hit the road for the 12th Annual Coyotes Caravan. Beginning Friday, members of the team will take to the streets throughout next week, visiting several locations across the Valley as they prepare for what should be a successful 2008-09 hockey season.

“Each year, we look forward to the Coyotes Caravan because it’s our first chance to get out in the community to visit with our fans and get excited about the upcoming season,” said Sarah Finecey, director of community relations and fan development. “This year, we’re excited to kick off the tour with the grand opening of Polar Ice in Gilbert, which will offer East Valley residents the opportunity to take part in a variety of hockey programs including youth and adult hockey leagues.”

The caravan is scheduled to make stops at Valley businesses and schools Monday through Thursday mornings, with public appearances in the evening each day. Players scheduled to appear throughout the week include Coyotes Captain Shane Doan; forwards Olli Jokinen, Peter Mueller, Steven Reinprecht, Enver Lisin and Todd Fedoruk; as well as defensemen Ed Jovanovski, Derek Morris, Zbynek Michalek and Keith Yandle; and goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Coyotes’ rookies will host the Los Angeles Kings’ rookies for two special exhibition games during the caravan week on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. Both games are free and open to the public.

The annual caravan will end at Arena in Glendale with CoyotesFest on Saturday, Sept. 20. CoyotesFest will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature appearances by Coyotes players, plus open practices and scrimmages, autograph and photograph sessions, games, Howler’s Kids Club zone, contests, prizes and more.

The Coyotes’ home preseason schedule begins when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, Sept. 27, followed by the San Jose Sharks on Monday, Sept. 29 and the Kings on Saturday, Oct. 4. The regular hockey season begins Oct. 11 when the Coyotes host the Columbus Blue Jackets, with individual game tickets starting at only $15 a game. For fans looking to maximize their 2008-09 hockey experience, the team offers a variety of season ticket packages with great seat locations still available starting at just $9 a game.
