Coyotes at IIHF World Championship: May 13 Recap

by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes

USA 5, Hungary 1

Goals by Nick Foligno, Vince Hinostroza and Dylan Larkin in the second period provided the offensive spark for the United States who beat winless Hungary in a preliminary-round game.

Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy played 16:22 and notched a goal and an assist for USA. Murphy has notched one goal in each of the past three games and is co-leading defensemen in goals scored in this 16-team tournament.

Germany 5, Belarus 2

Germany scored three goals in the first period and cruised to a victory over Belarus in a preliminary-round game.

Coyotes forward Tobias Rieder did not play because of a lower-body injury he suffered in Thursday's game vs. Canada after colliding with Corey Perry in the second period.
