GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have extended their affiliation agreement with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL for the 2016-17 season.
“We are pleased to renew our affiliation agreement with Rapid City,” said Coyotes General Manager John Chayka. “Rapid City is a first class organization and we are looking forward to another great season.”
Rapid City is entering its third season in the ECHL and plays its home games at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, S.D. The Rush is one of 28 teams that compete in the ECHL and play in the West Division of the Western Conference. The franchise was founded in 2008 and won the CHL Championship in 2009-10.
Mark DeSantis enters his first season as head coach of the Rush after being the associate coach with the team last season. DeSantis previously coached in the SPHL and CHL and was the inaugural captain of the Rush during the 2008-09 season. Rapid City will open the 2016-17 season versus the Colorado Eagles on October 7th.
