GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- The Phoenix Coyotes announced today that the team’s 2009-10 Training Camp will open on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Arena when players report to camp to receive medical examinations and fitness testing.

The first day all players will be on the ice is Sunday, Sept. 13. Training camp will last 19 days with the NHL regular season beginning on Thursday, Oct. 1.

All Coyotes practices during training camp will be held at Arena and all practices are open to the public. Fans can enter the arena through Gate 3.

In total, 57 players have been invited to attend the Coyotes’ training camp. The roster must be trimmed to 23 players by Opening Night. Unlike other professional sports, there is no mandatory schedule for making roster cuts.

The training camp roster will be broken up into three squads (Teams A, B & C) and their schedules will vary.

The Coyotes will open their 2009-10 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Staples Center against the Los Angeles Kings. The Coyotes will host their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 10 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets at Arena.
