Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced that the Coyotes have acquired center Kevyn Adams from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.
Adams was an integral part of the Hurricanes' Stanley Cup championship last season as he served as an alternate captain and skated in all 25 of the club's postseason games. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward also registered a career-high 15 goals and 23 points while playing in all 82 regular season games in 2005-06. Adams, 32, has collected 2-2-4 and 17 penalty minutes (PIM) in 35 games with Carolina this season.
In 480 career NHL games, Adams has recorded 58-68-126 and 296 PIM with Carolina, Florida, Columbus, and Toronto. The native of Washington, D.C. was originally selected by Boston with their first selection (1st round, 25th overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
Seidenberg has registered 1-1-2 and 16 PIM in 32 games this season. The Coyotes acquired Seidenberg in exchange for Petr Nedved on Jan. 19, 2006.
