Coyotes Acquire DeAngelo from Tampa Bay in Exchange for 2016 2nd-Round Draft Choice

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Anthony DeAngelo from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the team's 2016 second round draft choice (37th overall).

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound DeAngelo registered 6-37-43 in 69 games with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) last season, which ranked seventh among League defenseman. DeAngelo's 37 assists ranked fourth among League blueliners and third among AHL rookies.

The Lightning's 2014 first round pick (19th overall) totaled 25-64-89 in 55 games with Sarnia and Sault Ste. Marie (OHL) in 2014-15, which led all League blueliners and was named the CHL Defenseman of the Year. The right-handed defenseman averaged over a point per game (PPG) in his OHL career by scoring 55-186-241 in 236 games. He had the most assists among OHL defensemen in 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15, in addition to being the OHL defensemen points leader in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

The Sewell, New Jersey native played with current Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy in the OHL with Sarnia during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
