VANCOUVER --Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun will miss the final two games of the season because of a lower-body injury.
Chychrun, who suffered a major knee injury while training in the off-season that sidelined him for the first 29 games of the season, notched four goals and 10 assists in 50 games. He averaged 20:15 of ice time in his second NHL season.

"Jakob showed a lot of resiliency coming back in the best shape of his life and making an impact to our team right away," Coyotes General Manager John Chayka said. "I thought he was playing his best hockey of his young career. He's a mentally strong person and will come back even better next year."
Chychrun suffered the injury late in the first period of Arizona's 4-1 victory over Calgary on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome. Flames forward Michael Frolik tripped Chychrun from behind and he fell awkwardly into the boards behind the Coyotes net. He remained on the ice, facedown, for several minutes before being helped off the ice and to the dressing room. He did not return to the game.
"It's always tough to watch something like that," Christian Fischer said. "We're all pretty close in this locker room so we're thinking of him."
Chychrun is the third Coyotes defenseman lost for the season because of injury. Jason Demers (upper-body injury) and Niklas Hjalmarsson (lower-body injury) also are sidelined as Arizona plays out its 2017-18 campaign.
