Living in the Crouse household means being under the same roof as someone on the brink of stardom.

Lawson isn't doing too bad for himself, either.

But it's his French Bulldog, Butter, who's now approaching "A-List" status.

Butter is a nominee for "Best Dog" in this year's NHL Fan Choice Awards. Voting is now open.

Crouse, the Coyotes' 22-year-old forward, set a career-high in goals (15) en route to matching the highest point total (25) of his NHL career before the season was temporarily halted.

"I never thought my dog would be potentially getting an award before I would be," he said with a chuckle.

Butter, acquired by Lawson and his girlfriend, Claire, two years ago, has his own Instagram account, which boasts more than 2,000 followers and stoutly states that he's "not a pug" in the bio. The account also posts the link for voting, should you need a reminder (Vote here!).

"If I didn't have him, I don't really know what I would be doing," Crouse said. "He's like a little kid, you've got to be watching him non-stop. But he's a lot of fun. I love playing with him, and as humans, we're pretty fortunate to have pets like dogs, so never take [him] for granted, that's for sure."

Lawson and Claire join Butter on walks and for naps. "He likes to sleep and he likes to hang out, so it's pretty easy," Crouse said.

Butter's got a bit of sass, too. Crouse says Butter is not pleased when he goes on extended road trips. Butter can sometimes play the sympathy card when he leaves home.

"Usually during the season when I would go on road trips, he would be a little annoyed at me," Crouse said. "[But] it doesn't matter if I go out the door for five minutes or a full road trip, he's still wagging his tail when I [return]. It's nice to come home and see him whenever I come through that door."

Crouse noted that there might be a couple of extra walks needed before the awards ceremony, if Butter wants to look trim. The time at home has had an effect.

"He's definitely packed on a couple pounds like the rest of us."
