Congratulations to Washington Latin Public Charter School in northwest D.C., for winning the Capitals round one pep rally contest. Seventh grade teacher Courtney Brouse submitted the school’s entry with a photo of her students spelling out “Rock the Red” on the school’s blacktop in support of the Caps playoff run.
At the school Caps alum and Comcast SportsNet analyst Alan May kicked off the pep rally by welcoming the students. The seventh-graders then broke off in to five stations where they were able to play street hockey alongside May, practice their hockey shooting accuracy, try on hockey equipment, take photos with Caps mascot Slapshot and decorate banners in support of the Caps. The pep rally ended with Caps mascot Slapshot leading the students and teachers in a “Rock the Red” chant.
Each student received a Caps playoff T-shirt and a Caps rally towel. The Capitals also donated a set of street hockey equipment to the school.
Thanks to all the teachers and schools who submitted entries for the Capitals round one pep rally contest.
