XM to be Official Satellite Radio Parter of Capitals

Washington, D.C. - November 9, 2005 - The Washington Capitals and D.C.-based XM Satellite Radio today announced that XM is the official satellite radio partner of the Capitals team.

XM, which recently signed a ten-year deal with the National Hockey League (NHL) to broadcast NHL games, will be able to sell satellite radios, provide XM listening stations, and offer discounts on XM products at various Capitals games at the MCI Center.

"We are extremely excited to partner with XM Satellite Radio," said Capitals Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Morgan.  "A company with the strength and growth potential of XM will allow us the opportunity to make our games more accessible to a wider variety of fans."

The multi-year agreement between XM and the Capitals includes a variety of customized activities to promote XM radios and XM's broad range of sports, music, news, talk and entertainment programming, including significant XM presence at every Capitals home game and high visibility on the Capitals web site with interactive XM features and promotions.  In addition, the Capitals will host "XM Satellite Radio" nights, which will include XM giveaways for Caps fans.

"With this partnership XM's considerable online and on-site presence during Capitals home games will ensure fans know XM is the satellite radio home for comprehensive coverage of the National Hockey League," said Howard Jacobs, senior vice president of strategic partnership marketing for XM Satellite Radio.  "Our intent is to give each Caps fan access to their team's play-by-play coverage, plus NHL news and analysis, even if they no longer call Washington home."

XM began carrying NHL games this month and will soon launch an exclusive NHL talk radio channel.  XM will become the exclusive satellite radio network of the NHL beginning with the 2007-08 season.

Subscribers listen to XM on a variety of radios for the car, home, and portable use.  XM is available in the 48 contiguous states, and it will be available in Canada in the coming months.
