When Addy was driving from Richmond into Washington, D.C. with her dad Craig on Sunday, she thought they were just going to pick up something that her dad had bought - she had no idea what was in store for her.
When they arrived at the Capital One Arena parking deck, she saw people walking around with Caps shirts on. And as soon as her dad popped the trunk and pulled out a couple of jerseys plus her checklist, she knew what they were really doing.
What Addy also didn't know is the day before, her mom created a "6-Year-Old Check List" with things she wanted to do that year. The list included:
Addy had already completed the first two items - she started Kindergarten in September and lost a tooth in February.
Addy had talked about going to a Caps game for about a year, so the excitement was palpable. She immediately went down to the glass to wait for the boys during warmups with her list.
About halfway through pregame skate, Jakub Vrana saw Addy and flipped a puck over the glass to her.
Get a puck? Check.
