by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / washingtoncaps.com

Under Pressure - After Saturday night's 3-2 win over Carolina the Caps have played half of their six-game preseason slate. POSTGAME NOTEBOOK - Caps 3, Blues 2

Caps win with late bounces, and kids, goalies and newcomers shine along the way

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / washingtoncaps.com

Something Wild - In a regular season or playoff game, losing the way the St. Louis Blues lost on Wednesday night in Washington would be difficult to shake off. But the Blues' 3-2 loss to the Caps came in a meaningless preseason affair, and with their names freshly engraved on the Stanley Cup, with Cup rings coming their way in a matter of days and a Cup banner raising two weeks off on the horizon, the setback is less jarring than a sneeze.

Kids show well and Wilson shows leadership as Caps win preseason opener over Hawks

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / washingtoncaps.com

All The Young Dudes - Although it was seven-year NHL veteran Tom Wilson who supplied the overtime game-winner with a dazzling, highlight reel goal that spanned virtually the entire length of the rink, an impressive group of kids also had a lot to do with the Caps' 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night in Washington's preseason opener.

Protas, McMichael and other youngsters shine, Wilson scores game-winner as Caps down Hawks

by Mike Vogel @VogsCaps / washingtoncaps.com

When it's all said and done, the 4-3 overtime win in the Caps' first of six preseason games doesn't really matter. But early preseason lineups are liberally sprinkled with young hopefuls, and those young hopefuls showed well for Washington on Monday night at Capital One Arena, helping the club to a come-from-behind victory over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.
