Strike Out Hunger

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals teamed up with SportsTalk 980 to Strike Out Hunger at Lucky Strike Lanes on Oct. 13. Washington Capitals players Kris Beech, Donald Brashear, Mike Green, Brent Johnson, Jakub Klepis and Matt Pettinger joined SportsTalk 980 personalities Andy Pollin, Scott Linn and Marc Sterne to bowl with Caps fans who had donated canned food for the Capital Area Food Bank.

alt “The Capitals have been great and we really appreciate all that they’ve done for us,” said Mike Gillespie, the Capital Area Food Bank’s food resources director.
The festivities kicked off with the John Thompson Show being broadcast live from Lucky Strike from 3-6 p.m. Brashear appeared on the show, while Pettinger had called into the Brian Mitchell Show earlier in the day.
The player’s team that finished with the overall highest score was Mike Green’s group which included Scott Linn from SportTalk 980 and three Caps fans, who combined for a score of 610. Green’s and Linn’s teammates will each receive two tickets to an upcoming Caps game and a team-autographed hockey stick.
Thank you to all the fans who came out to bowl with the Caps and SportsTalk 980 and donated food for the Capital Area Food Bank. You helped to make a difference to help in the struggle to end hunger in the Washington area.
