Strike Out Hunger

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
Come support a great cause and meet Washington Capitals players and SportsTalk 980 personalities. All you need to do is bring four cans of food to Lucky Strike bowling alley Friday, Oct. 13, and you may get the chance to bowl with a celebrity. All donations will go to the Capital Area Food Bank.

The John Thompson Show will be broadcasting live from Lucky Strike from 3-7 p.m. and Capitals players Matt Pettinger, Brent Johnson, Donald Brashear, Mike Green and Kris Beech are scheduled to be on hand from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Starting at 5 p.m., you can sign up and enter to win the chance to bowl with a Caps player or SportsTalk 980 radio personality. At 5:30 p.m. the first round of winners will be drawn and will get to bowl one game with a celebrity. Four winners will be selected for each team. At 6:15 p.m., the second round of winners will be selected and will start bowling as soon as the first group is finished. The team with the highest score overall will receive tickets to a Caps game and team-autographed hockey sticks.

All it takes is four cans of food and you can be bowling with a Caps player or local radio celebrity! And even if you don’t win, you can still meet the Capitals players and SportsTalk 980 personalities and watch a live broadcast of the John Thompson Show. Most importantly, you will have made a difference to help in the struggle to end hunger in the Washington area.

All donations benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, the largest public nonprofit food and nutrition education resource in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Last year, the Capital Area Food Bank distributed 20 million pounds of food, including six million pounds of fresh produce, to more than 700 partner agencies. The Capital Area Food Bank has served the National Capital region for 26 years.
