Staples Presents Capitals Annual "Heroes Night" March 14

Capitals to Salute Police, Fire and EMS Personnel Washington, D.C. – March 10, 2006 – The Washington Capitals will recognize and thank local police, fire and EMS personnel at “Heroes Night” presented by Staples during the game against the Buffalo Sabres, Tuesday, March 14, at Verizon Center.
Displays of police and fire rescue vehicles and equipment ranging from standard cruisers and fire trucks to special operations vehicles and disaster rescue vehicles will be on display for fans to see up close on F Street from 4:30 to 7 p.m. In addition, emergency response personnel will participate in intermission games, special videos will run recognizing Washington, D.C.’s emergency and public safety personnel and special video messages from the players will air throughout the game.
A silent auction will also be held on the concourse during the game and will feature autographed Capitals items as well as an authentic D.C. Fire Department helmet, an authentic D.C. Police motorcycle helmet and an authentic fireman’s axe signed by Capitals players. Proceeds from the auction will benefit C.O.P.S., Inc. (Concerns Of Police Survivors) and HEROES, Inc.
