The Washington Capitals raised $16,200 for Washington Capitals Charities through the team’s Spring Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Boston Bruins on April 5. The fundraiser featured 405 pucks that were packaged with Hershey’s Kisses and signed by various Capitals players and sold for $40 each. The pucks went on sale at 6 p.m. when the doors opened to Verizon Center and were sold out before the start of the game.
Robert Doane, Melissa Mooney, Heidi Rhodes, Ed Unger and Carter Werts were the Spring Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and therefore got to meet Caps center Eric Belanger. Belanger signed their pucks and took photos with all of the winners.
