Spring Puck Surprise Raises $18,000 for Washington Capitals Charities

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals raised $18,000 for Washington Capitals Charities through the team’s Spring Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Florida Panthers on April 6. The fundraiser featured 450 pucks that were packaged with Hershey’s Kisses and signed by various Capitals players and sold for $40 each. The pucks went on sale at 6 p.m. when the doors opened to Verizon Center and sold out in less than an hour.

Kelly Coggshall, Lana Negin, Betsy Philpott, Matthew Reynolds and James Russ were the Spring Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and therefore got to meet Caps right wing Mike Knuble after the game. Knuble signed their pucks and took photos with all of the winners.

The Capitals would like to congratulate our Spring Puck Surprise winners and thank all of the fans who helped make it a success.
