Robert Müeller Passes Away
by Staff Writer / Washington CapitalsGoaltender Robert Müeller, a Capitals 2001 draft pick, passed away after battle with cancer on May 21, 2009. He was 28.
Müeller was born in 1980 in Rosenheim, Germany. The two time Olympian and three time German champion was elected into the German Hockey Hall of Fame in March 2009. He led two teams to the championship of the German professional league and most recently played for the Cologne Sharks this past season.
Mueller was Washington’s ninth-round choice, 275th overall, in 2001. He never signed with the Capitals and was no longer on the team’s reserve list at the time of his passing.
