Pick-A-Stick raises more than $21,000 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation raised $21,225 through its Pick-A-Stick fundraiser that took place at Verizon Center during the Caps game against the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 12. The fundraiser featured more than 250 hockey sticks signed by various Caps players that sold for $75 each.

Caps fans Aidan Ecker, Larry Sanders, Toni Thompson, Hunter Waite and Rick Wallace selected sticks that were not signed, and as a result got to meet Capitals alternate captain Nicklas Backstrom after the game. Backstrom signed the winners’ hockey sticks and took photos with them.

The Capitals would like to congratulate our Pick-A-Stick grand-prize winners and thank all of the participants who helped make it a success.
