Team won visit through Coached by a Cap program

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals defenseman Milan Jurcina will attend a youth hockey practice at Columbia Ice Rink in Columbia, Md., Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. The Howard Huskies won Jurcina’s visit through the Coached by a Cap program, a new initiative created this season.
Forwards Chris Clark, Matt Pettinger and Tomas Fleischmann and defenseman Jeff Schultz have each taken part in the program, which gives the winning team a chance to get first-hand instruction from a member of the Capitals. Approximately 20 boys and girls, ages 9 and 10, are expected to take part in Saturday’s session.
Coached by a Cap is part of the Capitals’ Pucks to Bucks group sales fundraising program. Open to teams of all ages in the Washington, D.C., area, these programs gives teams the opportunity to raise money for their team and get firsthand guidance from a Washington Capital.
