The Washington Capitals have announced the May winners for the 2008-09 Caps Care Click to Win initiative. Captain James E. Daly Elementary School in Germantown, Md., Creighton’s Corner Elementary School in Ashburn, Va., Emery Educational Campus in Washington, D.C., Rocky Hill Middle School in Clarksburg, Md. and Rose Hill Elementary School in Alexandria, Va., were each selected to receive a $500 grant from Washington Capitals Charities.
All five schools were asked to supply a photo with a caption of their school “Rocking the Red.” From May 18-25, the photos and captions were posted in an online poll on WashingtonCaps.com for fans to vote for the school they thought had the most school spirit. The Capitals would like to congratulate Rocky Hill Middle School on receiving the highest percentage of votes. Rocky Hill Middle School has won a $1,000 grant from Washington Capitals Charities. With the money Rocky Hill Middle School had already won for being selected, this brings the grand total of its Caps Care Click to Win grant to $1,500.
Caps Care Click to Win has concluded its second season, giving local schools the chance to win free Capitals tickets and cash prizes. The program is part of the team’s commitment to introduce area youth to hockey and to support local schools with charitable contributions. Please check WashingtonCaps.com in the fall for more details on the 2009-10 Caps Care Click to Win program.
